More wisdom from the Mixed-up Files of Miss Bee-girl M. Firstgrader.

Once upon a time – and really, I’m only touching on this because it’s a post of its own) – I was worried that I was giving Gracie much, much more time in spotlight here at Can’t Get There. The rational side of my brain (in other words, the teeny-tiny part) said not to worry about it – she was just going through a Cute and Adorable Phase and that her sister would have her turn. Well, guess what? The rational side of my brain was right. Bee is having a rather spectacular run. You know why? Because that kid, it turns out, likes to talk as much as her sister and her mama. And I, well, I like to let her because then we get gems like this:

Gracie: Bricks are the strongest things in the whole wide world!
Me: No they’re not. They’re pretty strong, but they’re not the strongest.
Gracie: Because people can run through them!
Me: No they can’t. <Thinking…> Cartoons aren’t real.
Bee: Yeah, Mom. Only ghosts can go through bricks and walls.
Me, wondering if I should lie and say that ghosts aren’t real…
Bee:
But ghostes [pronounced ‘Ghost-is’ for those of you who don’t speak Little Kid] aren’t real, Mom. Know how I know?
Me: Why aren’t they real?
Bee: Because they don’t have legs or arms. And people DO have legs and arms, Mom.

Well, okay then. Glad I got that straight finally.

Love kid logic. At least she gives you a laugh every day.
