Quote of the Day.

Gracie, upon looking outside this morning: “Mom, what is that crunchy white stuff on the grass? It’s not snow.”
Me, approving her disdain for the not-snow: “That’s frost.”
Gracie: “What’s frost?”
Me: “When it gets cold outside and drops below freezing (or 32°), the dew on the grass freezes into frost. It’s like snow, but it didn’t try hard enough. That’s frost. It can be on the grass or on cars.”
Bee, walking in to hear the tail end of the conversation: “There’s…frosting on the cars? <extremely puzzled> Why is there…frosting…on the cars?”

Not surprisingly, Bee lost interest once I explained it was frost, not frosting. If it wasn’t food, it just wasn’t worth the effort to pay attention.

I wish it had been frosting on my car and NOT frost. That would have been much more satisfying. Messier – bu still . . .
